RULES AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM AND EXAMINATIONS

The office of the Controller of Examination started functioning from 1987 when this college was conferred with autonomous status. Since then, Rules and Regulations are framed based on the recommendations of Boards of Studies, Standing Committee on Academic Affairs, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Academic Council, keeping in view that they must be student friendly while safeguarding the credibility of the Institution.

Blooms’s Taxonomy – Question Standard Level

(Academic Year – 2017-18 onwards)

Outcome Based Education (OBE) has been implemented from the academic year 2017 – 2018. In connections with this, we are following Bloom’s Taxonomy for teaching, learning and evaluating process to improve the skill of the students.

Bloom’s Taxonomy primarily provides instructions with a focus for developing their course learing objectives. It can be used to increase student understanding of the learning process. Teachers can understand the complex congitive development and how lower-level skills build into higher-order thinking (Ee.G., recalling facts and comprehending previous problems allow the students to apply their experience to similar problems)

All Question Paper follows the given levels:

Base Level (Remembering and Understanding)
  • Application Level (Applying)
Advance Thinking Level (Analyzing, Evaluating and Creating)

Choice-Based Credit System coupled with Grading, Innovative method of Curriculum and Evaluation:

This is a modern system introduced in Higher Educational Institutions to keep the curriculum relevant to the global demands and standards. Students are offered with a choice of Job- oriented courses, Elective Courses and courses for improving soft-skills. They can choose any course of their interest and need during the period of study and earn extra credits and certificates in addition to the Degree in their respective disciplines. In this College, Choice Based Credit System is followed from 2004 – 2005 academic year onwards.

Under this system, every subject is fixed with certain credit points, based on its content of knowledge, its application orientation as well as number of contact hours allotted. This is done after a thorough analysis of the content of each subject by the members of Board of Studies. Components of Curriculum and Particulars of Choice Based System applicable to the students admitted during the academic year 2008-2009 onwards in Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programmes, as prescribed by Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education (TANSCHE) & Bharathiar University are given here:

Part IV : Question Paper pattern for 50 marks : Section A : (10×1=10 marks). Q.No. 1-5 Multiple Choice 6-10 Short answers. Section B : (5×8 = 40 marks) Q.No. 11-18 Answer any five out of eight questions. (Essay type questions) atleast one question from each unit.

# Extension Activities Every Student shall participate Compulsorily for a period of not less than two years (4 semesters) in any one of the above mentioned programmes.

Under Graduate Students who pass all the papers coming under Part I to Part V are eligible for receiving degree.

Post Graduate students who pass all the papers prescribed and earn prescribed credits are eligible to receive their degrees.

# Change in credit points per subject is permitted, if warranted by the Board of Studies concerned.
